being clear
how can not being prepared affect the lesson plan when it comes to giving instructions to a class?
Confidence is key when teaching others. It gives the sense that you are familiar with the topic which builds trust with the students. If you are stuttering and it seems you don't really know what you are talking about, students easily pick up on this and their attention is diverted.
Many times the instructor has to make choices regarding the content to be presented to class. The lesson plan helps me to focus on the essentials.
Juan,
A simple fact that needs to be developed for each and every class. Planning is essential for success. Without it as you mention the class can become sidetracked.

If you are not prepared with your lesson plan you can lose focus on your daily goals. If you are prepared the class will run smoother and they will gain from your class.
All it takes is one experience of walking into class unprepared to "teach" you the importance of preparation. In order to make the information understood by the class, presenting it in a clear and concise manner is critical. In order to accomplish this, is is vital that your preparation before class provide you with this "outline" ahead of time. The students will know if you are ready to teach or not. It just takes one time for the students descend on you to teach you the neccesity of preparation.
Kisha,
It can cause the entire lesson to collapse because the instructor has nothing to build on. How do you make sure this doesn't happen in your own instructional planning?
