Using a well prepared syllabus
I saw the best effect of a well prepared syllabus
through my forty year of my teaching experiences, it help the student in a timely manner how to be ready of ahead of time for all of his or her classes.
Conchi,
Yes, the syllabus is a live and well but has been reduced in value by many instructors. These are the same instructors that get frustrated with their students because the students keep asking questions about policies, due dates and projects that normally would be covered in the syllabus. I will continue to use a syllabus because it gets us all on the same page from day one and this is to the benefit of everyone.

I have been teaching for a long time, and one of the concerning trends i am seeing in class is students not knowing what a syllabus is... I am not kidding, until I took this class I was starting to think I was one of the few people who was still using a syllabus... Thank you for letting me know I am still doing the right thing!

Abdul,
This is true. A well organized syllabus definitely hepls the students stay on track with what is due and when. It also helps eliminate some confusion and answer questions when ever they are not in class.

abdul.gardezy,
Thank you for this good input about the value of a well prepared syllabus. A syllabus is a guide for students to follow to successfully complete the course requirements.
