AS an istructor and full time profession absolutely agree that students suppose to have a magig connection between the classroom and professional field. As an intructor and clinical supervisor I know what students have to bring from classroom to the externship and what I havr to give them and must learn at their externship before they go to their professional carrier.
Thank you!
Hi Alma,
For sure. We all like to know we are accepted, safe and supported. When these factors are in place the stage is set for learning.
Gary
Students thrive in environments where they feel safe, nurtured and respected. All students, even those who have learning difficulties and extraordinary personal challenges, can do well when they are physically comfortable, mentally motivated and emotionally supported.
It's important to control the learning environment (climate, room layout, etc.) and have classroom management policies to (A) avoid distractions to the learning process, and (B) elimate excuses from the students as to why they can't do it.
The learning environment will have an effect on how well the student learns. If the classroom is too crowded or too cold the student cannot focus on the material to be learned. If there are too many distractions the student again will not focus. A student who is comfortable in the classroom will be able to concentrate on the work and thus have a better outcome.
The learning environment plays a big role in the instructional process. A positive, pro- active environment will encourage learning and set a good example for a student.
Very true, and with that being said, hopefully the student will feel that they can contribute to the class and discussions without fear of embarrasement.
Hi Michelle,
You are right about the learning environment. It needs to be a comfortable supportive and safe place to learn. Anything else is unfair to the students.
Gary
Very important to come early as well before the class time.
Be able to be present and body. Physcial conditioning is also very important. Nice temperature control. Able to eat etc. is also very important.
Students must feel safe and accepted to ensure maximum material retention.
The learning envirnment needs to be condusive to learning the subject(s). A clean, quiet classroom or a well set up lab for experiments. Students must feel comfortable and safe and in an area where they feel their opinion counts.
The learning enviornment is vital. It needs to be comfortable so a student can focus. It needs to be inviting so a student's voicee can be heard.
If the environment is not good the students may not learn, and sometimes the instructor will not be focused either. the envrionment has to be goo dfor the students to learn and the instructor to be focused.
Can enable or hinder student compfort and confidence, thus affecting their participation. Thanks
Hi Randall,
Good points about instructional supports. We need to be able to adapt and shift our instructional delivery based upon what is occurring in the classroom like training aids not working.
Gary
It's important to be organized, the classroom organized, and for the instructor to be uplifting, positive. Its the unforseen things, the things that cant be planned, the things out of the instructors direct control that will sometimes cause the biggest grief. For example I had some training aids that were not working. Some students felt they were missing out on the learning experience because of a couple failed training aids, or dead batteries.
Hi Eric,
Excellent points on how to see through and establish a positive learning environment for students.
Gary
Having a good learning enviroment is extremly condusive to learning. The room needs to be well lit, the air comfortable and the necessary materials needs to available.
It's important to be organized, the classroom organized, and for the instructor to be uplifting, positive.
