Course Content

Do you often feel that the course content is outdated. What do you think is the best strategy to deal with such situation?

Tony,
Keeping current is a must if we are going to provide the most relevant information for our students.

In my field things change very quickly. I try to keep my students up to date as possible. I explain to them that our field is changes quickly for the better and explain to them how those changes will effect them.

Cindy,
It is important that your students know why you are covering what you are. By them knowing they will face this information again in the form of National Board Exams they see that you are providing them valuable and relevant content both for their careers as well as their certifications.

Our students have to pass a National Board Examination, therefore, we want to be sure that we are covering all necessary information that could possibly be addressed on the examination which is challenging. We closely adhere to all outlined goals and objectives approved by the accrediting agency of the national professional association and we frequently review study guides with practice questions for the board examination. If there is more we can do, we will do it.

Felix,
I provide supplemental handouts and materials each time I teach the course. This way I make sure my students are receiving the most current content. We use the required text but the handouts make everything relevant.
