What would be the best outlook when planning for multiple courses?
I agree with this plan of action. Often times, projects are similar from class to class (ie. creating a business plan), and I like to change the empahasis and involvement based upon the class level.
Dawn,
Thank you for this excellent suggestion on how to revise and refine your course each time you teach it. The results of these efforts will be reflected in the satisfaction your students will have with your teaching and the content they receive.

I agree updating courses to current information is always a must.
One of the ways I strive to continually improve courses is to make myself notes and comments in a specific color ink. I always have a certain color pen I take to lecture to make things stand out. When I prepare for a subsequent teaching of that course, I am able to quickly see areas that needed to be added, ideas to increase student participation and anything else I may want to tweak.
This also works well to adjust tests and note items students did not grasp as well as I had hoped so that I can find ways to expand on them in class.
Kenneth,
This is such a great way to keep all of your courses current. I generally teach five different courses each session so I use a similar method to make sure I have current content and activities that reflect best practices in the field.

I always plan multiple courses and I try to use instructional rubrics and methods that are similar across the board. I am generally not starting from scratch but updating every time I teach a repeat course to keep it fresh for both myself and students.
Beryl,
Good points and of value to other instructors. The key is to maintain the highest level of instructional delivery while being able to keep the classes moving forward and the students engaged.

The Best Outlook when planning to teach multiple courses is to come up with one cohesive theme. I'll often use the same type of assignment in different courses changing the level of expectation depending on the course. This makes grading easier and the rubric much easier to manage. Reduction of your workload when preparing for multiple courses should be your goal.
I follow the schools carriculum in planning for each course being sure to focus on the time that will be needed to effectively manage each class
Michael,
Good point and one that needs to be remembered as we do our instructional planning.

You should treat each course as an independentent activity. Same principles of planning differnt material and learning objectives.
James,
Can you expand on this question as I am not sure what you are asking and I want to be sure as I provide an answer. Thanks.
