Using a Plan of Study

I make sure that I make a Plan of Study or Teaching Outline to make sure that I stay on schedule during the quarter, and to make sure I cover the required material on the syllabus.

I need to stick to my plan of study. Sometimes I get ahead, especially when I have students that are fast learners. I have to pace everyone.

Mark,
This is the one of the fun parts of about teaching. When a topic captures the interest of the students and they start to discuss and then research expanded learning occurs and the motivation of the students really takes off. Great to be a part of this process.

Not only that, I find that as the course unfolds, and we are able to venture out and further explore a related avenue not directly covered but still relevant, it allows me to realign myself and the class at a logical point.

I think this is a necessity and I may make some changes throughout the term depending upon the speed and the needs of the class.

Ramona,
Yes it will. It will help you to stay on target with what you want to accomplish in the course.
