Plan and prepare
I definitely try to plan and prepare for my class. It begins with coming to class at least 10 minutes before the schedule start time. It also includes reviewing important concepts you are planning to discuss in class the night before. It helps with delivery and better prepares you to answer any questions that the students might have.
Michael,
This is my method of operation as well. By doing this I am settled and ready to go when class time rolls around. I have colleagues that come into class right as the class is to start and they rush to get everything laid out and prepared to start class. They tell me they never feel at ease in getting the class started. Wonder why?
My personality is such I need to be there early and get everything ready to go and this based upon your comments is how you operate as well. Much more relaxed for sure.

I try to get to class a 1/2 hour early so that i can have all my material out, make sure the technology works and be ready to start on time and organized. Also should any students have question or information they need to speak to me about prior to class, I am available.

Donna,
I do to because it lets me interact with the students and get a feel for the class to come.

Catherine,
Good way to be relevant and current with the information you share with your clinic students.

I like to be early to touch base with the students
so I can over any concerns I may have or if they need to discuss anything. It is comforting for them to know that I am available and their to listen.
I ask for as much material as possible prior to a clinical session, so I do not confuse information
AMANDA,
Yes it is because you need to be in control of how you are going to deliver the content and what activities you are going to use reinforce what you are teaching.

Eirzaad,
Like your approach to class planning and organization. By being there a little early you are available for student questions plus you get to visit a little with them about their lives. This is the human factor in teaching and is very important to the establishment of rapport.

It is very important that you plan out you lecture for your class. You want your lecture to have a good flow and last most of the class time.
