Goals

Should an instructor assist a student in setting goals for themselves?

Kristal,
First the instructor should have clear goals in the course toward which the students will work. Underneath those goals an instructor can help students set goals for themselves especially in certain skill areas in which they want to expand their expertise. Many students select a career area but don't know enough about it to set individual goals for themselves so you as the learning leader can help them expand their horizons and set goals for themselves that are meaningful and realistic.
