Using a Checklist
A part of planning and preparation is making sure that all of your ducks are in a row. This module suggests keeping a checklist to help keep you organized and to ensure that you are including everything that you planned for the class. You can also add items that you need to remember for the next class in order to be fully prepared.
I really appreciate this idea of using a checklist. I have found myself to be very forgetful and with a checklist I can eliminate this problem completely. This will also ensure that everything that I need to cover will be covered and adding to it will help for the next time I teach the course.
Deb,
This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing it with us. This way everything will be covered as well as knowing how the activities worked out with the students.

I have transferred my checklist to a spreadsheet. I color code those items that work, those ideas which need to be implemented, and those things that have not worked. That way, it is easy to see at a glance what I need to do.
Make sure you are as organized as possible to provide a fun and educational learning environment for your students.
Paramjit kaur,
The key things you want to make sure you do not overlook as you prepare for class. On the list can be announcements, handouts, anything that needs to be covered with students. Also, on the list can be items such as a follow up on a student request or materials you were going to give a student. It is easy to forget these type of things and then the students think you don't care enough to follow up which in reality you just forgot to talk with them about the request.

what should a check list consist of ?
As a new instructor the method of using a check list will help me keep on track and not forget anything I have planned for the day.
Michele,
Reminders like check lists and sticky notes can be of great help to make sure you are ready for class and that you will be reminded if you told a student you would bring something or do something and thus it will get done and not be forgotten.
