Mock Textbook

Any suggestions of compiling your own mock textbook for courses?

Tim,
I think your students will benefit greatly from this added resource. I have a supplemental packet that I prepare and give out that contains the latest information about our field. The course textbook cannot keep up with these changes since it is revised every 5 to 7 years, thus the need for the supplemental material.

This is very interesting. I currently teach using a standard textbook but love the idea of creating an additional resource for my students. Thanks!

Laura,
If you have some resources that you would like to use in your course you can put them together to form a text for your class. Make sure you secure the rights to the material you are going to use if it is copyrighted. I have created such a text and I used materials that are in the public domain so I don't have to be concerned with copyright issues. There are a number of different firms (publishers) that will help you to create such a text and work with you on getting the needed permissions. One that I use is universityreaders.com.
