Planning

Planning is crucial to class organization.

What are some ways other instructors have found to help organize their planning?

Lyndsie,
Core concepts can still be shared with new examples and illustrations. Plus your personality will help to sell the content you are sharing through your passion for your field and enthusiasm for teaching about it.

This is the first time I have been an instructor and the only reflections I can recall have been since my early college days. They were typically the most interesting. Unfortunately I worry about how dated some of those lessons may seem to this generation.

One thing I find difficult to understand is how people can expect someone who has no knowledge of the electrical field, can be inserted into some of the hardest curriculum to understand, and expect the student to thrive.

Ty,
One way is to reflect on how you yourself was taught. How did your courses as well as the content line up in terms of understanding and knowledge that you derived from them. Then see where you think the process needs to be expanded or changed and then plan your own instructional delivery around that core. This way you don't have to discover all new content but can reshape content that exists into more effective and efficient learning modes.
