preparing for the first day
I feel confident on the first day. Because there are fresh faces and I can mold them into what is to become educated people. Also, their usually ready to learn and get into the routine. I usually try to keep that spirit throughout the course.
Gabrielle,
So do I. It is so much fun to meet the students and learn about their life experiences. I am always amazed at the diversity of lives experiences my students have had and I get to learn about them during the course.

I also enjoy the first day energy.
Jessica,
One of my favorite days as well. Starting a new class with introductions and some ice breakers helps everyone to get settled in and feeling comfortable with each other and myself. A shared laugh goes a long way in getting everyone excited about the up coming course and what they are going to learn.

I enjoy the 1st day as well. I like to get all of the rules out at the start and go over anything the student may need to know to be successful within the course. I find out who needs certain materials such as the book for the course. I then do a meet and greet to get to know the students better.
The first day is critical in that you can set the tone for the rest of the course. A perfect time to set expectations and create a good learning environment.
Victoria,
I love starting new courses as well because of all the new students I get to meet and interact with. I am amazed each time I start a class at the diverse life experiences my students bring. A great learning experience for me as well as my students.
