Outlines

I hand out outlines to my students of the chapter we are to cover that day. Now I am filling in those outlines to help my students learn more. I hook my computer up to the classroom tv and fill in the blanks. This is the first time I have ever tried this, but I am hoping it will be a real tool in the classroom to get my students more prepared for their state board exams.

Adam,
This is a value added service to and for your students. The weekly outline gives them a "big picture" approach to what is going to be covered so they can get their minds set on how to prepare for the coming week.

I always prepare a weekly schedule that functions as a more detailed outline which includes topics and discussion, readings, assignments and deliverables. Very organized and clear for students to see as an overview and also to keep them on track.

I agree, it is important for the students to know what is expected on day 1

Great aids for teaching

Jennifer,
This should be a great aid to your students. It will be interesting at the end of the course how they perceive the assistance this format has provided them.
