the first day is problably the most important because you set the rules, you tell the students what is expected of them and what you expect of them. this is why being prepared is important.
that is totally correct, first day class does leaves an impact to them.but you must be carefull because is the same .to leave a great image or bad ones.
The first day of class is the most important to guide, encourage the students with the curse and to motivate them is like your presentation card is useful always set the rules but you can use to something that they not even expect.
It definitely does set the tone..just like any start of a relationship..the first date/meeting is the most important and will leave a lasting impression.. If you confident, prepared to say the least and motivated..your students will admire you and have more respect for you.
