Education 101
On the first day of a new class, be sure to get plenty of rest and sleep the night before. Be that you have dressed professionally and that you project self confidence. By doing this I believe that the students will be impressed and will look forward to the course at hand.
Is there any ideas on how this suggestion could be changed or modified?
Also, you need to be prepared concerning what you plan to accomplish on the first day. If you have paperwork for the students, lesson plan, presentations, anything you plan to do, you need to be organized prior to the start of class so everything flows smoothly.
There is nothing worse than not knowing where to begin, and fumbling around for your materials. The students will quickly pick-up on this, which could be the beginning of a problem class.
Anything one can do to enhance one's self confidence will pay off. Not expecting perfection in one's self will also give one a chance to be authentic which will in turn send a positive message to the students.
