Correct class?
Writing the course name and number on the board so the students know they are in the correct class is benificial.
Well said HUMP, depending on what call you teach it can be as easy as making them feel comfortable or as hard as showing who's boss with your cohort groups.

I commend you for the way you open a new class. This way you set the stage and there will be little or no confusion about what is expected of the students and how you want to be addressed while the class is in session. Keep up the good work.

Along with the course name and number include you the intsuctors name as you would like to be addressed.In most first meetings with anyone they will likely address you as it was first annouced to them.
