First day of class
From what this course teaches, it goes right along with what we've been doing all along. I don't agree with giving out personal info. as in phone numbers to students, this could open a can of worms that can't be closed.
I agree with your statement this course is right on with what we do or should do in the class room. In regards to giving out personal info I had a bad experience years ago before I became a full time instructor. I gave a class room full of students my work number. I thought the calls would never stop. I do not give personal info out in the class room. As an instructor I do give out my work emil address if the students ask.
I think the first day you have to set the ton e for what is expected and what the student can expect to learn.
I have seen some nstructors give personal phone numbers and I think it is a mistake. You end up being their personal nformation source or their psychologist. I do agree that a certain amount of personal information is critical to setting the mode of the classroom. I think that brings the instructor a little closer to being on a personal level with the students, but not to the point of being "pal" to them.
First impression is the most important thing. Being profesional and orginized is a good role model.
