Yes, that first impression is very important in all aspects, in and out of the classroom. Become a great role model and mold that student to become a professional in his/her career.
I agree, it will develope the expectations of the student good or bad. I belive that this will be set in stone unless a dramatic event occurs to change it. Without this "event", everytime the student sees the classroom door or pictures walking into your classroom, he will always have that same sense or feeling about your class.
