Motivation
On real life basis, How can the instructor motivate the learners?
And how can you, as an istructional leader, to stop the negative effect of the non motivated stutent?
finding out their reasons for going to school and asking them what they want to accomplish in the class and than doing a self check-in to assess where they are, seems to help.
I also like how another insrtructor has them put on an index card at the end of the class: what I learned today............
You're so right, George! Again, it gets back to the question, "So what does all of this mean to me, how will it help me accomplish my goal?"

I have found in the 5 years I have been teaching that the best motivation for the students is to take the time to explain how they can and will benefit from the class. examples that they can relate to are helpful also.
Hi Girgis,
Instructors can help learners to become motivated by providing them with opportunities for success. Early on in the course the students should be given opportunities to be successful in completing projects or activities that will help them realize that they can be successful in the classroom and laboratory and that they can achieve their career goal. All of these success factors will serve to motivate them and once they taste of success they will be on their way.

every class is made up of different people and so the instructor has to eveluate each class early on and decide how to handle any problem students without disrupting the entire class. this is probably the most difficult part of our job.
