It is always different
Each new start for is always interesting, nervous, can not wait to start. It always fun and challenging first day to establish a good first positive impression.
Hi John,
Good points about having variety in your teaching delivery. The blank stare of students can take you out of your game for sure. Having a number of different approaches will help you counter the stares and keep the students engaged in the learning process.

I agree with mixig up or changing your teaching style to acccomodate different needs. All too often I believe we fall into our own personal comfort zones and refrain from doing things differently. It is quite awkward to get that blank group stare during a lecture you thought would captivate them. It is good to have various tools in your box and ready to go.
I do agree Chris. Each class is different. You could have a class that just "gets" everything you lecture on, and then there are other classes that you may need to prepare differently for. Such as hands-on or projects. So always be prepared to change your teaching style.
Its important to remember each class will be different. The first day is a good time to get a feel for the classes learning style as a whole, so that you can adjust material as needed.
Hi Joann,
Starting a new class is always an exciting time for instructors and students. The real reward is when the students start to gel together and become effective learning groups. This is what makes all of the nerves worth it at the end.
Gary
I find evry class to be different this I like because it teaches use different things about us and the students.
Each new start is the same for the instrictor and the student, you have the excitement, fear and the knowledge you can gice the student and the student should be receptive ti=o that knowledge. No matter how well you plan things do not always go the way you want them to.
