Entertain and Educate

Make learning fun, exciting, and meaningful.

Dito. I know that it is also fun for me to teach when I do entertain. A couple of good laughs go a long way for everyone in the class.

Hi Bridget,
Right you are about games. They can play an important part of the instructional delivery if they are used appropriately. We are training students to be successful in their career area so we need to make sure that our classroom setting is professional and supportive.

I think there is a thin line balancing fun and education for adults. There may be some that want to play games, however, there are some that prefer a professional setting for application purposes.

I have experienced settings where games have been excessive. If there are going to be games, I think it should be integrated in the curriculum.

Hi Melanie,
This is why we need to constantly work on our instructional delivery abilities. The more knowledge we have about different delivery options the more opportunities we can give our students to stay engaged in the learning process.

I agree 100%! Even though the students are there to learn, there is no reason why class should be all dry, dusty speechs or slide shows that put you to sleep. Plus it is so easy to learn a subject when you are having fun.

I learned the most from the more entertaining instructors when I was in school. They kept my attention and made going to class more enjoyable.

I use a lot of games and simulations to make the class more fun and meaningful. I find that if students find the work meaningful, they will also find it fun. There are more and more online simulations that are very useful in class.

I encorporate my personality & fun work experiences into all my classes.
