INTRODUCTIONS
I think a proper introduction is crucial for good student/teacher interaction.Should you greet individually or as a class?
I usually have each student introduce themselfs individually by telling me and the rest of the class, which is also important because the class also needs to work as a team and want to not only see me but eachother every day, their name, their major, and something no one in the class would know about them that way you don't have to just remember a face but Jim who snowboards.

You could do both. You can welcome your students at the door and then again once everyone is in class.
I usually start with a general introduction, then go around to each student. I put up a list on the board of what I want each person to say about themselves, such as:
Name
Where you work
Degree program
How much experience you have with
Something unusual about yourself
I find that this keeps the students that may be a bit shy from having quite such a hard time with introducing themselves.
Dan and others,
I like individual introductions. I sometimes use ice breakers, but not always.
Hi Dan
In my classes, I will start up with an introduction of myself. In the introduction, I will include a brief discussion of my work experience and hobbies. The learners will provide their introduction and reasons for returning to school. Sometimes, I will schedule a conference call for the introduction.

Hi Dan,
I start with a general class introduction and ice breaker to get everybody, including myself more familiar with each other. Then I make sure I meet and greet each student individually over the next few class meetings so I can get to know them as people better. This also helps me to develop rapport with them and gives me the chance to chat with them on different topics throughout the course. Makes them much more comfortable in the class.
