New course
Start with some organization on your part. it is hard to start out with no course objectives and no planning. I started and IV course with a book handed to me with no details just some highlighted areas and old tests not on computer to access or update. It was tough but, now after 6 classes it is easier and I am way more organized.

when I began teaching, it was a very similar scenario. My instincts told me not to reveal how little prep time I was given for the class. I was right. Other teachers, in similar situations who were more forthcoming with the short notice to prepare and usually ended up in a negative situation. The studnets may appear to be understanding of the situation but they generally seem to take it out on the teacher as in bad reviews.
