make clear expectations

best way to make it clear the expectations of your students?

send 2 weeks before class e-mail message for every student in my roster and go over it on the first day of class

I have all of the expectations in the syllabus and I also hand out rules for the classroom.

I agree with Dr. Meers. Writing them out makes them clear and to the point. Another effective way is to talk about them on a continual basis.

Hi Jeff,
Write them out in clear and concise terms. Put them into the syllabus and then go over them the first day of class. Throughout the course remind the students of these expectations so each day they enter class they know what the end goals are.
