first impressions
The first impression is the most important day here the students will make many assumptions about you
Hi Carolyn,
I am sure it does. I use this same format and I learn all kinds of things about my students. During this session we get to relax and get comfortable with each other which have some laughs. This really sets the stage for a successful class to come.
Gary
I ask them to tell me something about themselves that would surprise me and the class. This usually brings a laugh!
Hi David,
Sounds like you are developing into a natural teacher because you have the instincts and attitude for sharing content with others. You are going to have a great teaching career and leave a legacy of well trained students ready to enter their chosen career areas.
Gary
I agree and though I hadn't yet taken any training, I was happy that my instincts were on by being early, addressing each student as they walked in, doing introductions, hearing about their backgrounds, and introducing myself and my relevant experience. It set a great tone for the rest of the semester so far.
First impression is lasting to your students. As an instructor, we should be a role model to our students. Welcome them with a smile to avoid tension Be prepared, organize and always be on time.
The first impression is the most important one.
This is true. They will be sizing you up and wondering if you are new or seasoned in terms of not only as an instructor, but as a professional in the field.
