first class
To ensure the instructor and students learn each others expectations I ask students to write me a note sharing about themselves and what they expect from the course.
The success is proven in the motivation of students and helps me meet all expectations.
I couldn't agree with you more, and, even if the students have previously had classes together, they can still learn new things about each other. This exercise sounds so beneficial, I will be sure to utilize it in my first teaching experience in a few weeks.
I start of with of course introducing myself and my background Field wise. I then have each student just give a brief bio about themselves.
I have my first two classes tomorrow and I think this would be a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
I have not had them write anything to me, I think that is a great idea - thanks for sharing! I usually tell them my expectations and ask them what thier expectations are of the class - as a discussion. Having them write it out would be more personal and give a better idea of where the student is coming from .
I feel that it is important to have involvement of the students, so introductions are the best. i feel that we all learn form each others intro. I too let the students know something about me!
During the first day of school I have the students introduce themselves and what they do now and why they are getting into a new profession. I also go around and introduce myself and tell them my job experience.
