Meeting Class For First Time

First impressions are everything! Professionalism is the key. The way you walk, talk, dress and present yourself the first day will set the tone for how your students will acknowledge you the rest of the term.

Hi Mahnaz,
Welcome to teaching. I know you are going to enjoy being a part of the process that enables students to achieve their career goals. Just as you say with good planning you will be able to get settled into the course and provide your students with quality instruction. I wish you much teaching success.
Gary

I agree. Being a new instructor I think being well prepared and early in the class room is very impotant. This will hopefully ease my nervousness as well as making me look more organized and in control to my students.

Hi Wendy,
Good point and one we can never forget as you prepare to meet a new class. So much easier to move forward with a good impression rather than trying to dig out of the hole of a bad one.
Gary

I definatly agree with this! If I have time before a class starts, I like to be in the room, to welcome students as they 1st enter. Then, to take some class time to talk about why they are there---I believe yopu only get 1 chance to make a 1st impression, and it takes 10 "good" to erase (or diminish) 1 bad thing!! Wendy
