Starting Class On Time
It is very important for instructors to start their class on time. It gives structure to the students and also students can ask questions about any concerns they might have.
Agree also. Many a times students will arrive 30 minutes before class starts. And the teachers are required to be prepping or in the building an hour before. When students see us prepping for class as early as we do, it sets the "lead by example" mentality. Be early, be prepared and be ready to go.
I often give pop quizzes when a certain portion of the class is abset. I also alternate when I give quizzes, sometimes I hand them out at the beginning of class, sometimes after the first break. This keeps students coming to class on time, especially on quiz days, or in the case of a pop quiz.
Hi Teresa,
This is a basic part of being a good instructor yet many instructors fail to make starting a class on time and being prepared a part of their regular practice.

Starting class on time let the students know their education is important to the instructor. Each minute late is taking away from the education hey expect to receive as well as what they are paiding for.
True statement! Students realize that with the instructor setting the example, it ensures that they see the professionalism and importance that we as instructors place on being in class on time! This will truly be a mirror to the direct needs of real work experience! One of the most important goals of any job is, #1 being on time!!!
Hi Donna,
So do I. Your presence along sets the tone for much of what will happen later on in the class.

I totally agree!! being in the classroom before the students sets a good example, and makes a good first impression. Setting the criteria for
whats expected on the job.
