I think it's so important to show your students that we care about them as people and about their success.
The students can see through a phony.
Listen to the student!
Sometimes this will take more of your energy, but thats when the students needs you the most.

Well said. You need to bring passion for your field along with enthusiasm for teaching about it each and every time you step into the class or lab.

Indeed they can, and it is not realistic to assume that you can fake it. If you do not want to be the lecturer for the course, then why would the students want to be there either?
Students can discern when a teacher is being sincere or not.
I care alot about my students. Students are my priority when it come to their success.
