study guide review
I am interesting surprised that giving students study reviews will give them an opportunity to perform better on tests. I feel I need to disagree. Our society has moved away from the true meeting of learning. Lets just give students the answers. What happened to studying and group sessions of studing outside the classroom for an exam.
Kimberly,
I agree because critical thinking and problem solving abilities are the elements of career success. The more we can help students to develop skills in these areas the greater job we will have done in preparing them for their futures.

I find it more practical to include student input on study guides prep as they prepare for exams. It helps them to recall lectures and key points and it also holds them a little more accountable in the preparation of the process. I would rather teach them how to prepare as opposed to simply telling them what they need to prepare.
Study guides should supplement the course reading thus steering the students to focus on certain areas of concentration.
Highlighting key areas should be the focus any review guide, not giving out an "answer" key that they memorize and regurgitate at quiz time.
Hi John,
You make a good point about providing too much support for students. The goal of study guides are to highlight key concepts they need to review and be knowledgeable about. They should not give answers or reduce the information to the point that all students have to do is memorize content. They need to be able to see relevancy in and application of it.
