Meeting Class for the First Time

Be sure to write your name, contact information, and course name/number on the board.
I also like to introduce any social media that I may set up for the class, such as a facebook page or twitter account. These tools allow them other avenues of access to me and to missed assignements from class. What are some other tools you may use?

Survival the first day can be tough but as you say you made it and all is good. Now it is a building process in terms of experience and expertise. Keep up the development process.
