getting to class early
Most important to do a technology run through, no matter how long you have been at a campus--other instructors using the room do crazy things with the equipment sometimes....
Getting to class early helps me in the same manner. I've had students confine in me before other students arrive.

This is why I like coming to class early as well. The opportunity to deal with student issues and questions individually for a few minutes really helps as we get ready to start the class.

Getting to class early not only gives you time to set up the daily class activities, it also gives you time with your early students. I have found out by coming early that those students who have needs, or someone to talk to will know that your there , and find it a good time to conference.
As an instructor you must always conduct youself as a professional.
Getting early to class is important because you can get out all your learning materials required for the lecture and you are prepared to start when the students are ready for your lecture.

Good point. A walk through the classroom and lab seeing the learning environment through the eyes of students is a great way to get a feel for how your class is going to operate.

Many times just getting familiar with your teaching environment puts the teacher more at ease. Like students, teachers may be anxious too!

For sure. Also, we need to always have a Plan B ready so if the equipment does fail we can continue with our teaching efforts.
