Prepare
Do you have everything?
To Do Lists are my friend. They need to believe in you and in what you know. That it's what they need to know.
Keith,
Yes, they are. They are what keeps us focused able to deliver the instruction and support we need to.

I have been using To Do lists for a while. they are extremely worthwhile.
Daphne,
My To Do list helps to keep me being productive. I can quickly review the list and by doing so I know I am ready for the class session. The list helps me to make sure I follow up and do what I have promised in relation to student requests like letter of references, etc..

A To Do list is a major requirement like a recipe for everything in life. As an instructor you definitely cannot improvise in a classroom. Students are paying close attention to you, and once they realize that you are all over the place you will lose their respect. Your organizational skills is another method of communicating your expectation to the class.
Daphne
KEVIN,
Sounds like my office area. Sometimes it looks like there has been explosion of yellow stick notes with all my list stuck to the walls. One of the ways I make sure to stay up to date with all of the things I need to do to be ready for my students.

I rely heavily on a good to-do list, incorporated with an occasional yellow sticky note.
Jennifer,
There is some satisfaction that goes with a completed list or it does until you have to start another "to do" for the next class. Our work is never done.

Nothing like crossing off the last thing on your "to do" list. Although I can usually think of something else to do.
Jennifer
Jose,
I agree and use my "To Do" list constantly. It really keeps me out of trouble because that way I don't forget things I need to accomplish.

Making a TO DO LIST has helped me keep organized and on track.
Lori,
Yes, they are. Your comments about us being asked to do so many different things to the point it is easy to forget something that one of our students has asked about made me smile because it is so true. The students come at you with so many different questions that your head starts to spin. A list helps you to keep everything in order and to be able to follow through.

"TO DO LISTS"...are the best thing you can do for yourself as well as your students. I look at them at the end of the day and either do the things I can...or formulate a plan for the next day to get the things on the list accomplished. It is a good way to keep track of the things that still need to be addressed so that you can be trustworthy to get the things done that you promised to do. Everyday there are sooooo many things that are asked of you as an instructor....without a list...I would be lost. At the end of the night, I try to "put it to bed"....hopefully I am finished with it by then.
LaTisha,
Me to, in terms of an old-fashioned "To Do" list. I make it, follow it, and feel good about completing it.

I agree! In this day and age with so many electronic ways to track your daily tasks, I like my good old-fashioned "TO DO" lists! It is a must in order to keep me organized.
Carla,
My friend as well for the reasons you list. With the list I don't have to worry about leaving something out or not securing a resource I need for the upcoming class.
