first impression
should always be professional and by the book with a caring approach but students need to also see that you are human and have a desire for them to learn
Lisa,
It is so much fun starting a new class when you know you are well prepared and ready to set the stage for a successful class. From there on it is a building process that earns you the respect of your students while you establish rapport with them. A win win for everyone.

It truly is so important to gain a good impression on your first day of instruction. You then give a sense of professionalism, competence and ability in your field. Once you have accomplished this your student can then assume that the content of the material will be given in a manner to which they can understand and learn.

Antwan,
This is the human side of being an educator and it is very important as you mention. We need to let our students know we can about them and their success.
