Motivation
I like to play games with my students. It increases their motivation and it keeps their attention. This has been effective for me in the past.
Pamela,
Thanks for sharing this strategy with us. Strategies like this are what helps students to acquire the knowledge they need while building on their skill development. I use anything I can to help them learn elementary or not. Keep in mind that adults are in many ways just taller children. My students love to play games and earn candy because these efforts help them to review for tests plus they are a lot of fun.

Interactive teaching is very effective. I am glad you pointed this out. When teaching my students basic math I like to play word games especially when teaching roman numerals for example: My Dear Cat Loves Xtra Vitamin Immensely. This way the learners are able to relate the M in my to 1000 the d to 500 C to 100 L to 50 the X to 10 the V to 5 and the I to 1. It may seem a little elementary but in the medical field were they see them often it works.
Karla,
Yes they do. We need to remember that adults are just taller children. My adult students really like playing games and doing case studies. They really get ramped up when we get into our teams to play Jeopardy when reviewing for an upcoming test.

Interactive Teaching is effective with all ages, in adult teaching they absolutely love the activeness of games, hands on, ect.
Nicholas,
The more connections like this you can make the better. By sharing these stories you are increasing the value of the content you are sharing for your students and this increases engagement.

I try to relate course material to real life work experiences. I have had some success getting students more interested in learning the subject matter, by using this method.
Lacy,
My students love to play games as well. We use games for reviews prior to quizzes and the students really get involved. We have a good time and they increase their retention of the content.
