Meeting the Class for the First Time

The first day always makes me so nervous. I have found that the more I prepare the better I feel about the material. The more I teach the came class, the easier it is. Walking through the classroom to gain the perspective of the students is a great idea. I always try to see things from their perspective. I think that is one of the things that makes a wonderful teacher.

Pari,
After many years of teaching I still am nervous just before starting a new class. I think these nerves help me to stay fresh and realize that even though I have taught the course many times it is the first time for this group of students. Opening the class with introductions and ice breakers helps to get everyone settled in and looking forward to what will come next in the course.
