introductions
Introductions are excellent ways to calm the nerves when starting a new course. I found out that students feel great about themselves whenever they are given an opportunity to share something about their lives that the rest of the class are not aware of.
Susan,
They really do plus they are fun for everyone. Introductions helps the students to get settled into the course and start feeling comfortable with how the course is going to be conducted.

I think introductions really help the students, and instructor, get to know everyone and help everyone instantly feel a part of the class and the group.
Maurice,
The value of introductions are that students get to know each other better as well as get a feel for the backgrounds that are represented in the class. I always enjoy introductions because I learn so much about my students and am amazed at the diverse experiences they have had prior to coming to my class. Truly a learning experience for me every time I start a new class.

Introductions are a great way to get a complete understanding of your students backgrounds & history so that everyone can have an idea or a understanding on what everyone backgrounds consist of and which gives students the opportunity to network with their classmates.
Abbie,
This is a fun and easy to do ice breaker. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I agree with your statement. I usually have them introduce themselves using an icebreaker, 2 truths and a lie.
Eirzaad,
Introductions set the tone for the upcoming course as well as give everyone a feel for who is enrolled in the course. I always enjoy introduction time because I learn so much about my students and I get to interact with them to start the development of rapport.
