making class interesting
i made up an enitire game like jeopardy to get my students involved and they learned a ton from it and got to know each other..also it helped eliminate classroom anxiety
How do they do this? Do you, the instructor, make a statement and the students guess if it is the truth or a lie? I would be interested in using this idea, please provide a little more info if possible. Thanks..
Byron,
My students really like playing games because they help them with reviewing the content plus they are fun times to interact with other class mates.

Doing a game to start off the first day of class sounds like a great idea. It would help calm nerves and create a relaxed learning environment.I will have to try it out.
Nartasha,
These are fun activities to do and they get everyone talking and getting to know each other a bit better. This helps them to get settled in and comfortable with the how the class is going to operate.

Yes...It does. The students appears to be relax after the game and ready to recieve and hear the syllabus and exceptation of the class.
Nartasha,
I use this ice breaker in my classes and like your students my students really like playing this game. Really gets everyone involved and talking with each other. Sets the stage for the next part of the class where the syllabus is shared and the expectations discussed.

I have made games for my students as well and they enjoyed it.... On the first day of class, I would have some icebreakers but the one they like as 2 truths and 1 lie and the students have to guess which is a lie and a truth... It is fun.. It gives me the opportunity to get to know them and it seems to relax them as well....
