Remembering Student Names
I set a goal of two weeks {class meets once a week} to remember all my students names at the beginning of a semester. Introductions the first day help along with sign in sheets.
I do struggle when I have a class over 18+ students. Especially when it is our exchange program students. Any other ideas or suggestions different from the ones mentioned in this course?
Robert,
If possible try and find a connection between the student and his or her name that you are able to make and remember. This method works for me when I am working with students from different backgrounds and with names I struggle to pronounce and remember. The connection can come from a chat you have with the student about their favorite color, food, sports team, etc.. Anything to create a mental connection so you can pull up their names when you see their faces. Not easy but doable if you work at it.

Our terms are only 10 weeks long, and many of our students are from Africa and India. The limited time and rather difficult names can pose quite challenging when trying to learn up to 30 students' names. I have yet to find an easy way to match faces and names in a timely manner. Any suggestions?
