sometimes it helps to compare the material to something the learner knows. so the can get a better understanding.

I've done the same thing---take them back to what they know and move them up to what I'm trying to teach.

I always try to compare the material with what the students are familiar with.

I have found that if there is a way to use the student’s bike as an example, often he will be more focused and excited about learning.

I try to give a spacific example of a situation I experienced with a customers bike.
