Demonstration

Observation is one of the first and main aspects of the learning process.
If a student is confused during this phase of our teachings, then the confusion will carry on to all the other parts.
So it's really important for them to understand what we are trying to present to them. Hence demonstration holds a key to the lock of many students learning ability. We need to give a 120% in this part of the process so students will have a good basic knowledge of the topic going to be covered.

Yes, this is a mastery style of learning which i agree.

because nursing profession involves dealing with human life demonstration and repetation are critical tools. Critical thinking and demonstration is unique per individuals learning style.

I agree practices is important and knowledge application should be enforced both in theroy and clinical area.

In nursing the key foundation for learning is learned skills to be redemonstrated and practiced.

Being in the nursing profession demonstration of skills Enhances the retention of knowledge.

Sometimes demonstration is a must so the students can master a particular skill. So when demonstration is required in a particular class, I make sure to watch each and every student doing it in the appropriate way before we move on. Some students need more time to practice. So I just give them that time at the end of the class, I stick around to make sure they're ok with it.

YUO MAKE AN EXELLENT POINT, I THINK THAT THE DEMONSTRATION ENCOMPHASES THE LECTURE AND IT IS OUR LAST RESOURCE TO DELIVERY THE CONTEN OF THE LECTURE IN MORE VISIBLE WAY.

One of the things that works for me is to demonstrate certain procedures or parts of a procedure in the classroom before the students attempt it on their own in a lab setting. This usually answers a good portion of the students questions before they ask them. I will then demonstrate the task again in more detail in a labratory setting. In this way, the self starters can easily get themselves going and I can spend more time with the students that need a little more of an explanation.

I have found that most students are hands on learners. Although the student will need to have an understanding before they jump right in and take something apart more time needs to be as a hands on activety. If they think it is a race with other students on who can take it apart the fastest they will not recive the true value of the exersize. So they need to be reminded that it is not a race but a chance to understand how something works.

There are so many ways to explain to the student, but I think the best ways for them to see and learn how to do it which is demonstation. so when the observe it is hard to forget so that student can learn faster.

Hi Jaleh,
This is a key point. With a well planned and clear demonstration an instructor can greatly facilitate the needed transfer of knowledge and show relevancy of the content.
