Following a schedule

All of the courses that I teach, we use a calander form of lesson plan. This is rough guide and each instructor is responsable for creating a more detailed day lesson plan.

The schedule is very important but you do still need to be flexable some times i have found if i spend more time on one area i can cut another one almost in half just by making sure that the students understand the topic at hand 100% instead of being a little unsure about it before you move on. It tends to make the understanding of the next topics (CLICK) right away.

When teaching a class,a schedule or lesson plan is critical .

Hi Vivian,
My belief is that you have to be flexible in your teaching. The lesson plan should be a guide and the pace of the class can take you several different directions while still remaining on track with the content and direction. Progress is being made but you are customizing the class to those students that day.

Is it not hard to follow an exact lesson plan every time being that the students change from class to class? Every class is different. Some require more instruction. Others have more questions. As long as one can move the pace of the class, is it not better to have it as a guideline rather than an exact?

I agree that a schedule should be followed, but if an instructor wants to deviate a little, that is ok..but you are correct..he must be able to get back on the schedule in atimely manner.

I use my schedule as a guide to provide the roadmap for educational instructions.

I agree that lesson plans must be followed consistely to keep students focused on the the educational objectives.

I treat the schedule as simply a guide. I've learned to move around it based on each class.

Schedules work well for me as a rough guide and it give the students info for the direction of the class

i have instructors under me who may try hard at times to follow the schedule set fourth, however there are always discussion topics that may run over and put my instructors behind schedule, the biggest problom that i face with this is classes bieng in the shared course space at the same time.so yes i agree learn to follow a schedule, remember you are in control of the classroom and if needed cut the conversation short but do it with respect and professionalism

I follow my lesson plan accordingly..its so important to be on track so that you dont fall behind and cause your students to fall behind because you are. Im fortunate that a lesson plan is already made up for me (the course that i teach) i know how time consuming it could be to make one up from scratch
