tree method
I use what i call the tree method. I start the lecture or lectures with, what the root of the subject matter is. Then from here I can give examples of it's uses and strenghts and then from this method it can lead into other branches of a particular system or method.

Yes. The tree outline gives you structure to which you can come back to after you have answered questions and had discussions. Without the tree outline instructors often get sidetracked and don't come back to the day's topic. By have the tree outline you have the trunk or core of the topic and then can branch out on sub-topics and then come back to the trunk once again. This way you always know where you are at with the topic.

Does this method give the instructor the flexibility to answer related questions that is not part of the tree outline?
