Lecture
As an instructor you have to be comfortable with the subject and know all there is to know about because students will test your knowledge on it . So how i do it is i study and look over notes and tests and review myself on entire subject until i know it well.
Yes, keeping the lectures to 10 minute time frames is what I want to develop furthur.
Bernard, I think you are right as to knowing your subject, but I think the biggest thing I came away with was the mimi-lecture.
Early morning students seem to have a problem of focusing on technical material for extended periods. I'm excited about trying this.

Knowing the material and having feild experience is a key factor. However, as you know that is not always enough. Having the skills to be able to deliver the the lecture while keeping the students motivated and interested is also a key factor. Just as the ED101 course stated. The instructor has to perform on multiple levels. He/She has to be a good teacher along with being a model, a motivator and a mediator.
I agree but, one must have experance in the subject matter in order to relay it in depth.
I agree, it is important to be comfortable with the subject matter. study the format, and anticipate what the struggles will be. Prepare for potential questions, be sure and understand how the lecture can carify the information and prepare the student for the testing material by building their confidance. Include the student in the lecture with questions.
