The Package

Students retain and apply more skills from class when the instructors are well versed in the curriculum content and the ability to educate. Having a combination of knowledge, experience and communication skills create the best learning environment for students in the classroom.

Well put. In addition to what you have stated, I would add it is important for the educator to continue developing his/her knowledge, experience, and communication/teaching skills. I strongly believe that the minute an educator feels he/she knows it all and has nothing left to learn, it is time for that educator to retire and leave the profession. As times change, so do best practices. Teaching is a dynamic profession and educators must keep up with the changes in technology, lecture formats, student interests (which affects students' perception of relevancy of course content), and changes in policy and procedures.
