Students like change of pace and variety in their instructional delivery. You are doing both with your approach plus since you are teaching lab you have their interest via the hands on activities that will be conducted. This is a great learning opportunity for your students and I know they will be engaged.

There are all types of learners and as instrutors we need to be aware
I try to incorporate different methods of instruction to keep students engaged. I will try to start with a very brief intro to that day's content (mini-lecture of less than 10 minutes). During the lab session I will incorporate demonstrations (done by myself or a student), individual instruction, and effective ways of applying what they learned in class to a clinical setting. I try to always focus the learners to look into how they will be performing their learned skills in clinic.
