Keeping the material fresh
I do try to keep my classes fresh and up to date by relating the subject matter to current events, when possible. I'm just wondering what do other instructors do to keep their material fresh, to avoid becoming stale and boring?
I do this by using different learning tool; such as overhead projectors, powerpoint presentation, student/teacher interacting.
During demo I like to ask students if they have had any experience working with similar techniques and there is usually someone who has a story or who can relate.
Keeping the material fresh is by far not only relevant but also important. Students are more likely to listen to every word you say if they can relate and know that your current in what's going on in the world. Students look at you as being a real person, not someone who is just doing the same thing over and over and over again.
