New concepts for teaching

The new generation of students require a new and varied styles of teaching. The use of only formal lecturized teaching is outdated.

WOW "How to eat an elephant" that is a great saying. There are many ways of teaching and by seeing more than one instructor teach you will be able to develope your own way.

We are in a society that wants to be entertained, even in training. Some times it is difficult to keep their attention. We do have to just keep switching it up all the time to keep it interesting.

Hi Evangeline,
The key is to start small. As a new instructor you have so many things you are trying to focus on already that it does seem overwhelming at times. Stop and reflect a bit and think about the questions "How do you eat an elephant?" Answer--"one bite at a time". Concentrate on one area such as visual delivery for a few class meetings. See how it goes. Then try to use learning groups and see if that is successful. You will start to see how you delivering your instruction and how you are meeting student needs. All of this will blend together to create a varied dynamic instructional delivery system that continues to expand along with your experience.

Although I know that the teaching style should be multiple and varied, it doesn't make it any easier to prepare for these instructions especially if you are a new instructor. It sounds overwhelming.

I would completely agree. I think this next generation of students is really going to lean heavily on hands-on work and online/hybrid learning.

Hi Farooq,
Thank you for the kind words about the module contents. I wish you the best in your teaching efforts. Enjoy being a teacher because you are making a difference in the lives of your students each time you meet with them.

Hi, all,

I learned few new facts, which will change my teaching style. For instance, I did not know that the attention span of an adult learner is between 15-18min and that we normally retain 40% of what we read whereas only 25% if we hear. Contents of Module-4 were very informative. I am very happy that I took this course.

Thank you!!
