styles of teaching

students may come to realize that many teachers have differnt ways of teaching. And so they should be able to adapt themselves to his or her way. If not, then the absolute choice would only be to widthdraw from the class.

As in the "real" workaday world, there are various "chemistries" between the people in a classroom setting. Chemistry between instructor and students is partially determined by style of teaching, and also by appearance, speech rate, abstract versus concrete, colloquialisms, eye contact, etc., etc. My point is only that there is chemistry everywhere, and quitting is not a good choice in any environment.

Hi Tuan, it appears from your answer that it is an all or nothing choice and that the students should adapt to us or get out. I believe in a happy medium where the instructor incorporates the different learning styles into the course to reach most of the students some of the time. The remainder of the time students can adapt to our way of teaching and take what they can from it. This is a type of compromise that I believe needs to be a part of the college culture.
