Organized

Students need to see an instructor that is prepared for class every time

Arriving to class before students is great because you are there to greet them not only that but you also improve their attendance because now you are the Model and setting the example.

Being prepared for a class is a must and it also helps to be early. There is nothing worse than rushing into a class out of breath and sweaty. As one tries to get started while winded it makes for a sloppy presentation. I am one who tries to be in the class before the students. It is not perfect every time but most of the time it is. It helps me to maintain order.

Hi Joan,
Thanks for sharing this strategy with us. As I teach multiple sections of the same class I found I have to use the system you shared if I am going to keep clear exactly what I shared with each class.

If teaching multiple classes organization is a MUST. Since I teach multiple classes, I have a binder/folder for each class not only does it keep their assignments in order it helps me keep on track of where I left off in the class.

Hi Brittney,
It is easy to feel that you are being taken in a dozen different directions. The key is to focus on the most essential items, complete them and then move on. It is like answering the question "How do you eat an elephant?" Answer-"One bite at a time." This is how teacher preparation is done. One step at a time and as you gain experience the steps get quicker to complete so you can concentrate on developing new activities and securing additional course content.

If you have any great tips I would love some. Sometimes I feel like a million things are going on
Brittney

Yes, we must always be prepared for class. Not begin prepared shows a lack of intest and often communicates to the student that we do not hold ourselfes to the same standard. It is vital to the success of the course that the instructor is always ready and prepared before class begins.

That's exactly right, and it gets easier the longer you teach, especially if you're teaching the same subject over and over. That also allows you the comfort and flexibility to play with the lesson plans.
